FUND TYPES

At the Fremont Area Community Foundation, we offer a wide range of fund options designed to make charitable giving simple, meaningful, and impactful. Our funds allow donors to support the causes that matter most to them, whether through one-time contributions or creating a lasting legacy. By establishing a fund with us, donors can contribute to the community during their lifetime and beyond, ensuring that their generosity benefits future generations. Each fund is carefully managed to maximize its impact, helping individuals, families, and businesses give back in ways that reflect their values.

Donors have the option of creating their own charitable fund, or contributing to one of the following:

Fremont Forever Fund – You may give a sum of money or a percentage of your estate to the Fremont Forever Fund, the Foundation's permanent endowment fund. This money provides ongoing support for the Foundation’s giving to the community.

Sustaining Drive – You may make an annual gift to the Foundation through the Sustaining Drive, which provides for administrative expenses of the Foundation, thus helping to make the maximum amount of the endowment income available for grant-making.

Donor-Advised Fund – These hands-on funds are ideal for tax-savvy individuals and businesses who wish to support multiple organizations and programs throughout the year and manage their giving from one account. LEARN MORE

Designated Fund  A fund established to benefit one or more specific organizations or charitable purposes of your choice.

Field of Interest Gift You may designate a gift to be used for a specific charitable purpose through one of the Foundation's Field of Interest Funds. This method is designed for donors who may have particular causes they wish to benefit, but are concerned about committing their resources to a particular organization.

Agency Fund  Established by a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, funds are invested according to the organization’s preferences. Endowed funds help ensure the continuity of the nonprofit’s program and can provide resources to meet emergencies and occasional financial deficits.  Pass-Through funds provide ready and complete access as they are invested in liquid assets. Establishing an Agency Fund frees organizations from administrative burdens, while turning over responsibility for asset investment and administration to foundation staff who are more skilled in this activity.

Fiscal Sponsorship  This type of fund benefits new charities without 501(c)3 status and community groups planning a finite project that is clearly charitable in nature and in furtherance of the charitable purposes of the foundation. Sponsorship services include the provision of non-profit status to a project (thus making contributions tax-deductible), the receipt and management of contributions, and the authorization and payment of grants and expenses from the fund created for the project. Sponsorship services do not include extensive administrative support, or any fundraising support or financial support.

Scholarship Fund  This type of fund allows donors the opportunity to help students pursue secondary education goals in a variety of ways. They can be established in memory or honor of someone and have criteria specific to the interests of the donor. VIEW BROCHURE

Supporting Organization  A Supporting Organization is a section 501(c)(3) organization that qualifies as a public charity (rather than a private foundation) because it has a close relationship with the Foundation. It offers all the benefits of a private foundation and more—such as higher donor tax-deductible giving limits—without the added expense and administrative burdens. It is for people who want an involved approach to their giving but less administrative work.
