"Tornado Safety and Preparedness Program for Kids"

Alexa Brodd created a tornado preparedness program and a how-to guide for building safety kits after her family home in North Bend was destroyed by an EF2 tornado in May 2023. She received a $1,000 Youth Philanthropy Grant to support her project and presented her training to elementary students, 4-H members, and other student groups, emphasizing safety measures such as having emergency alerts enabled, seeking shelter, and being prepared for post-storm dangers. Her efforts aim to educate the community and promote effective responses during tornado events.
